9. Apps / Touts / Tweets etc
Firstly, let me say that when I heard that WWE would be promoting Touts I thought we wouldnt get through a segment without seeing some fat balding guy tell us why Cena is a god. THANK GOD that hasnt happened. But when they do it majorly sucks. Tweets pop up on screen every 2 minutes from some nobody celeb who, most likely, wouldnt know what a collar and elbow tie up is if it shafted them. Most disturbingly though is that both RAW and Smackdown GMs have taken to Twitter to announce official matches or advancements in angles... sometimes on Live TV!? Why not have a brief segment backstage where they, ya know, actually say it! It seems lazy, especially seeing as if a member of creative decide to have a segment on RAW they want advertising they put it up on WWE.com. I would say most fans wouldnt go near the site or even touch Twitter. But to keep up with the modern day product you have to do both. Of course, once again, it comes down to money. WWE wants you to visit its site for the sponsors and wants you to follow its Superstars so it can claim that more young teens and woman follow John Cena than, I dunno, Jesus himself. I wont say that all of these interactive elements to WWE TV are bad; I actually quite like the RAWActive segments! Seeing as they are only there to decide pretty basic elements of the show. I also quite like seeing what is Trending as it pertains to the show. It also brought me the genius of both CM Punks and AJs tweets (If you havent got them on Twitter, get them). To the producers and managers of WWE, theyre simply rolling with the times. But you can roll too far!
