Regardless of what Mark Calaway or Vince McMahon may think/hope, a name as big as The Undertaker can not just simply walk away and be done with wrestling forever. WWE legends are always going to be part of the WWE family somehow, and even though Undertaker may not seem like the type to make a lot of fuss over a retirement, a lot of fuss will be made. It might be that the WWE play it down themselves, but the internet simply wouldn't have it, and when The Undertaker finally does call it a day, it'll be huge news for anyone that's ever even had even a fleeting interest in professional wrestling. The Undertaker has never been the WWE's 'man', in the way that Hulk Hogan, Stone Cold, The Rock, and John Cena are 'the man'. A deathly character like The Undertaker is never going to appear on the front of GQ, and will never end up walking the red carpet at the Kids' Choice Awards (as amazing a sight as that would be). But the hard-working, old-school, decorated athlete that has stood the test of time for nearly a quarter of a century will never not be one of the best that the WWE have ever had. He's earned the respect of anyone and everyone he's come across through sheer hard work, has won the hearts of millions around the world, thrilled countless sell-out audiences, and become one of the most accomplished, enthralling, and legendary superstars of all time. He stuck with the company through all its highs and lows, has carried the WWE multiple times during his tenure, has won almost everything that there is to win - I don't see him climbing up a ladder and winning the Money in the Bank briefcase any time soon, and he's amazingly never been Intercontinental Champion - and he rightfully deserves to headline a Hall of Fame class the year that he does hang up his boots, hat, cloak, and that weird cape thing with all the spikes on it that he had that one time. The Undertaker will never be bettered, both in the ring and out of it, for his spirit, his work ethic, his status, his achievements, and his enduring popularity. There will never be another one like him, and as much as that surely breaks everyone's hearts, we can just be thankful that we were alive to experience The Undertaker and everything he gave to the audience. When he retires, a fuss will rightfully be made over it. There's no possible way around it, and that's how it should be. When he does make that decision, all we can do is be thankful towards him, and respect his decision. But as it stands, he has not announced his retirement, so we should count ourselves lucky that The Deadman seemingly plans to rise again another day.
