WWE: 10 Steps To Booking Sting vs The Undertaker At WrestleMania 31

1. WrestleMania 31 - March 29th 2015

Wwe 13 Sting Vs Taker Will this match sell Wrestlemania 31 alone? Probably not. WWE will be looking at getting Brock Lesnar and possibly The Rock into big feuds to compliment this one, I think. That said, there will be a certain portion of fans who might subscribe to the Network (with a 6-month commitment!) to see this bout at the cheaper price. This match isn't going to be a technical classic. Sting will have just turned 55 and Undertaker 49 as this match comes about and both will be limited in what they can do. As such, a 15-minute match will probably suffice here, it'll be more about the story and the entrances; the image of this match, as opposed to the match itself. I imagine the crowd in Santa Clara will be very hot for this match. It could be an example of the crowd making an average match great- a la Rock vs Hogan at Wrestlemania X-8- as opposed to the match being great itself. There's no real need for any tricks and/or gimmicks, I get the impression a standard wrestling match will do just fine. As for the story of the match, Sting will enter as an exclusive unknown to quite a few. We'll be familiar with his finish and perhaps some other signature spots but other than that, it'll be a relatively blank slate in what he can do. As such, Sting should attack with pace and theatrics, placing 'Taker on the defensive early. As both men will go in as babyfaces, they should work an even, back-and-forth bout, with both men getting in their high spots. Outside brawling and weapons are unnecessary. Obviously, the key spot will be Sting's Death Drop. He should promote it's arrival with plenty of theatrics and 'Taker's kick-out will generate a tonne of heat with the live crowd. Following that, 'Taker can power out of the Death Lock and make a comeback with his big spots. As for the finish, either a Tombstone or, if they want to use something a little more unique- Sting's own Death Drop used against him, to symbolically end the feud will work nicely. Post-match, 'Taker can do his poses, a big 23-0 sign can come up on the screen, 'Taker can leave victorious and as for Sting? He can leave exactly how he came and how he's left every other time. Job done, match over, feud over. 23-0. Who will be #24? Will there be a #24? Remember, it isn't yet clear if they'll even be a #23, let alone it be Sting. What are the chances of it? I say they're very good. Very good indeed.
