WWE: 10 Tag Teams That Totally Hated Each Other In Real Life

2. The Mega Powers

wwe.comwwe.comTo this day, one of the most fondly remembered and financially profitable angles of all-time was the explosion of the Mega Powers. When Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage joined forces to ward off the evil Hart Foundation at the behest of Miss Elizabeth, one of the most powerful alliances wrestling had ever seen was formed. For several years Hogan had been THE man in WWE, but now he had a counterpart to rival that popularity, as audiences took to the €œMacho Man€ and Liz in a major way. The sole reason for the partnership was to build to the eventual feud, and by the time 1989 rolled around the tensions had grown too high to contain. Fueled by Savage€™s overprotectiveness of his valet, he began to resent the Hulkster€™s relationship with her, and this led to the two coming to blows in a memorable backstage angle. But the onscreen tensions were mirrored by what was going in between Randy Poffo and Terry Bollea. Both performers were known for their massive egos and competitive drive, as well as being very protective of their spots on the card. In addition to that, Randy was also intensely controlling when it came to Elizabeth, allegedly keeping her locked up in a room backstage during shows. The bad blood between the two was off and on, as both men usually placed their desire to make money with one another over their personal feelings and the men continued to work together over the years. The bad blood famously led to Savage€™s rap song €œBe A Man€, where he dissed the Hulkster on wax. It€™s good to know that the two giants of the industry were apparently able to make amends before Savage€™s untimely passing in 2011.
