WWE: 10 Talking Points Of The Ultimate Warrior's Career And Legacy

9. The Hogan Vs Warrior Match

If just one moment could be used to define Ultimate Warrior's career, it would be April 1st 1990 at the skydome in Toronto, Canada. On that special night at WrestleMania 6, Ultimate Warrior faced Hulk Hogan in a Champion vs Champion match. It was the culmination of the 1980's WWF pop culture boom, Hogan and Warrior represented the two key wrestling characters who had became mainstream celebrities. Both men were all over merchandising and heroes to the kids of that generation. With Warrior putting his intercontinental title on the line and Hogan with his WWF belt up for grabs, this felt like the biggest wrestling match in the world. In truth, as two big mainstream names meeting, only Rock vs Austin in 2001 can really rival this marquee match. It was the peak of Warrior's career. He became WWF Champion and created so many iconic images along the way. Looking at the match now it's so nostalgic and beaming with the cartoon era aesthetic which made the WWF so great. Warrior's part in the boom period had left an enormous legacy, setting the foundations for the WWE as we know it.
