WWE: 10 Things You Need To Know About Jake "The Snake" Roberts
When the bell rang to signify the end of the main event on Old School Raw this week, one could have assumed that the show was over. It was a big enough moment as it was, with Roman Reigns being the sole member of The Shield to get a victory over "Best In The World" CM Punk. It was yet another chapter in the story of The Shield's deterioration, this revelation that Rollins and Ambrose might be inferior to Reigns. Instead of that being enough, or it leading to a faceoff amongst the hounds of justice, someone else's music hit. The music was so familiar to me, as a person who started watching WWF in the 80's. But WWE had modernized the music a little, and it was so unexpected, that I didn't clue in to what was happening until he came out. Jake "The Snake" Roberts. WOW. His appearance was a shocker because they'd so brilliantly kept it a secret, and because it has been an incredible path to redemption. The fans in Baltimore cheered, but the reaction was tame relative to what was his due. (That being said, I found them tame all night). The wrestlers in the ring, young and old, all took to one knee as a sign of respect. It was an uplifting moment for the record books. I went to bed wondering how many people understood the gravity of a Jake Roberts appearance in a WWE ring. In my mind, this wasn't the same as Scotty 2 Hotty coming out to do the worm, or even another Piper's Pit. Everyone needs to know why Jake Roberts is important. Here's the fan's guide!
