WWE: 10 Times Real Life Political Troubles Fuelled Top Heels
5. Zeb Colter
With the election of Barack Obama to the White House in 2008, there were views that he was hard to the left of the political spectrum. With this viewpoint there came an equal and opposite reaction, the Tea Party.
The WWE, seeing an opportunity to use the split country went further right, bringing in Zeb Colter (Dutch Mantell to older fans) who was last seen in the fed as Uncle Zebekiah, manager of the Blu Brothers and a young up and comer by the name of Justin Hawk, later Justin Hawk Bradshaw who would later become Bradshaw and then John Bradshaw Layfield. Zeb was paired with the former All American American Jack Swagger, and later joined by green card recipient Antonio Cesaro forming the Real Americans.
The Real Americans cut youtube promos espousing patriotism and American values while criticizing those who sought to take advantage of the system, particularly illegal immigrants. The last name Colter is a play on American conservative pundit Ann Coulter. In their background the Revolutionary War era segmented snake flake with the words Dont Tread on Me
Conservative pundits did not take kindly, viewing it as the McMahons scapegoating the Tea Party for Lindas failed Senate campaigns
