WWE: 10 Unique Ways To End A Wrestling Match

9. Via Screwjob

Well this is a given. A screwjob finish hasn€™t always been the fan favorite way of a match coming to an end, but a lot of times these endings, while very controversial, also go beyond the standard three count or submission victory. Take for example the infamous Montreal Screwjob of 1997. Shawn Michaels had put Bret in the sharpshooter, and Bret had assumed there was going to be a run in to cause a disqualification. Unbeknownst to him, Vince McMahon had other ideas in mind, and he came down to the ring and ordered for the bell to ring. He then gave Shawn the WWE title and HBK ran off with it while Bret looked stunned and bewildered by what happened. Since there, countless other matches, even ones from other organizations, have tried their best to recreate the screwjob finish and try to catch lightning in a bottle twice. Most of these moments have fallen flat due to the age of technology where fans can find out in seconds whether what€™s occurring in the ring is a work or a shoot. The Montreal Screwjob is in its own category and serves as a reminder of just how unpredictable a professional wrestling show could be.
