WWE: 10 Ways To Address Raw Ratings Disaster

5. Move Up From PG

Cm Punk Best The PG content designation is a sensible business option. It appeals to corporate sponsorship and allows WWE to appeal to a wider audience. It probably isn't going to go away, Vince is a businessman over being a wrestling promoter. There is no denying the truth of it though, that PG is a serious impairment to wrestling content. The entertainment form itself is built on a concept of violence. How can it possibly be presented as PG non-violence? It is a challenge that WWE continue to struggle with, and as a viewer the temptation can be to switch off at times. A big reason for the original PG move was linked to Linda McMahon's $95 million failed senate campaign. With that dead in the water, Vince should perhaps think about jumping back in with more mature content. It's feasible that if Vince went down a route of tempered maturity, he could retain the vital media and sponsor deals that PG broadcasting has offered. From a creative standpoint it would open up so much potential by cutting loose the PG restraints. Something like blood has not been done in so long, it would generate huge buzz if it actually happened. Lapsed fans would start watching again if WWE went back to the mature style that saw them break ratings records. The proof is clear. Raw's best rated TV was in the period after the cartoon era and before the 2009 PG shift.
