When that didn't work out, Del Rio turned to MMA...and this was just shortly after debuting as a pro wrestler. Del Rio finished his MMA career with a 9-5 record, including a 6 win streak. He's also responsible for a rule change in PRIDE that allowed him to wear his luchador mask while fighting. Aside from Brock Lesnar, does WWE have anyone on their roster who is this legit? Alberto Del Rio's MMA background is already alluded to via his armbar submission finisher. Why not flesh this out further? You can even use his current gimmick to play up how Del Rio used his riches to hire world-class trainers. I mean, damn, you have this incredible (and real!) backstory for the guy, use it to your advantage!
