3. Mick Foley
As Ric Flair has stated, for a guy who got famous by throwing himself off ladders and roofs, Foley sure thinks a lot of himself as a pro wrestler. Granted, Foley was a key figure in the 90's wrestling boom, he deserves recognition, but he isn't on the level of an Austin or Rock. And yet Foley has constantly acted as if he should be treated in that manner of a being a wrestling great, and has fell out with Vince McMahon numerous times over the last decade regarding their different perceptions of his status as a WWE legend. This tension was exposed in Foley's book The Hardcore Diaries in 2007, in which Foley details his frustrations with McMahon. The ego is clear - for Foley to think that McMahon owes him anything is hugely egotistical, after all, in 2007, the boss was busy dealing with stars like Cena, Batista and Orton - why would he be spending time worrying or thinking about a part-timer like Mick Foley who retired in 2000? The other thing you can tell from Foley's books is just how much his ego has grown. Most world leaders can write an autobiography in one volume, but Foley has published 4 memoirs to date. He also felt that the initial success of his first book, released at the height of the Attitude Era, qualified him as a real author, which lead him to releasing works of fiction as a "real" author, despite most of his success in writing being down to the WWE pushing his books. Foley's most extreme exposure of ego came this year, when WWE inducted him into the Hall Of Fame, an honour would be enough for most people, but not Foley. He posted a series of furious tweets when he found out his speech would not be broadcast on the TV show, which would instead focus on Bruno Sammartino, Trish Stratus and Donald Trump. Though he would ultimately delete the tweets when he found out he was on the show, he had referred to himself as a "fallen Foley" and encouraged fans to chant "we want Foley" during the induction of his fellow inductees. In contrast, WWE and WCW Champion Booker T acted with dignity at not being featured on the show.
