WWE: 10 Wrestlers Who Far Exceeded Expectations

1. Trish Stratus

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t5RegZTZTvw How She Exceeded Expactations: By Being Considered As The Greatest Female Wrestler Of All Time Trish Stratus (f0r me at least) is the ultimate example of a wrestler who defied all expectations, and went on to have a career that no-one could have anticipated. Trish joined WWE in 2000, having worked as a fitness model and having no formal wrestling training. She was originally pinned as a valet, managing T&A and then Val Venis. During 2001, Trish began a now notorious storyline with Vince McMahon, in which she was little more than his sex-puppet; and a various points in the story, asked to be spanked and was made to crawl around and bark like a dog. By this point, Trish seemed to be eye candy and nothing else. The storyline with Vince did have its upside however, as Trish was written into a match with Stephanie McMahon, where Trish began to show she had wrestling talent. She would eventually turn on Vince, becoming face for the first time. Following a return from injury, Trish unexpectedly won the Women's Championship for the first time, beating five more experienced wrestlers (Lita, Molly Holly, Ivory, Jacqueline & Jazz) at Survivor Series 2001. From that moment on, Trish never looked back - going on to have more title reigns, which included memorable matches and feuds with the likes of Jazz, Victoria & Mickie James. WWE were confident enough with Trish that she would mix it up with the male stars, both in storylines and in the ring. Her lengthy rivalry with Lita set the bar for women's wrestling. Together they main evented Raw, the first and only time a women's match had done so, and their work together is now regarded as one of the best feuds of that era. Retiring at the top of her game, Trish's legacy is as remarkable as it is unexpected - beginning as a fitness model with no wrestling background to being the most decorated Women's Champion ever, the youngest WWE Hall of Fame inductee ever and being considered as the greatest female wrestler of all time was something none of us saw coming.
