One of those imports was The Great Muta. With the size of a heavyweight and the speed of a light heavyweight (what NWA called cruiserweights at the time), Muta surprised American audiences with moves never seen at the time, including a backflip splash from the top rope, now known as a moonsault. Muta's impact would continue to shock the wrestling world by becoming NWA Heavyweight Champion. Dangerous to pull off, and even more dangerous if missed or botched, Muta's innovation signaled the rest of the wrestling world that it was time to step their games up if they wanted to compete on a true world stage.
