WWE: 12 Moments That Genuinely Almost Ended Undertaker's Streak

4. Orton's Chokeslam Into RKO - WrestleMania 21

Randy Orton had a lot of momentum riding into this match; he was still very young, and he was still in the heat of the "Legend Killer" gimmick. In other words, he was the perfect candidate at the time to break the streak. A back-and-forth contest for most of the match, it was becoming apparent that Taker was starting to succumb to the pressure of Orton's youthfulness and energy. Every move that Taker was trying to employ in order to get the upper hand was somehow reversed by Orton and his freakish athleticism. The final, and certainly most dangerous moment came when Bob Orton tried to interfere with his eternally cast-ridden arm. Taker would be whipped into the ropes only to deliver a big boot to the senior Orton. After taking care of the distraction, Taker would signal the end through a chokeslam. However, Orton had other ideas. In a weird counter, Orton set up and delivered an RKO in midair. At the time, this was the kind of amazing move that would have warranted the streak ending at the hands of Orton. Taker, however, would get back to his feet to finally deliver a Tombstone for the win. This was the first match that really presented a dire, unrelenting opponent to the streak, an aesthetic that would continue all the way up until today. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6lgY0BajZbQ
