WWE: 12 Most Ridiculous Sidekicks Ever

8. Mr. Socko

Mick Foley could have never imagined that a one off comedy skit with Vince McMahon would result in a world wide cultural phenomenon, but that is exactly what happened when Foley debuted Mr. Socko on the October 5th, 1998 edition of RAW IS WAR. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XPIX7G38mp8 Foley had been using the mandible claw as his finish ever since entering the WWE in early 1996. However, that signature move took on a whole different meaning when Foley introduced a dirty, smelly, sweat sock to the world that fall evening in 1998. McMahon was in the hospital recovering from an attack by the Undertaker and Kane, and Foley arrived in his Mankind attire to try and cheer him up. He brought in balloons and even a clown, but it was the random, spur of the moment occurrence of a sock puppet that made the skit memorable. McMahon ended the skit looking disgusted with Foley, but the fans were delighted and signs started popping up at events almost immediately afterward clamoring for Mr. Socko. It became a signature part of his act going forward, and whenever the the mandible claw was used from that point, it always happened with that famous sock on Foley's hand.
