WWE: 13 Hilariously Bad Gimmick Matches

3.The "... On A Pole" Match

Of course this one had to show up somewhere on this list. Can anyone honestly think of a really good wrestling match that involved retrieving an object that was on a pole? There's most likely at least one or two, but that doesn't excuse the dozens of other pole matches fans have had endure over the years. No matter what was on a pole, whether it was a pink slip, fuzzy dice, a kendo stick, a nightstick, a contract, a mistletoe, or the leg of a broken action figure (no seriously) the match was basically the same thing: climb up a turnbuckle, grab the pole, grab the object on the pole, and either win or use it on your opponent in order to gain the win. There was never any stability when determining how these pole matches worked; half the time you had to use the object, and the other half just required you to grab the object, with the rules changing depending on who was running the show. At best, you had wrestlers competing in a third rate ladder match scenario, and at worst, it was a comedy match that had more fans yawning than laughing. These matches don't happen very often (this isn't WCW after all,) but every once in awhile, when the booking team has run out of ideas, they'll dig up this dusty old "gem" of a match and throw it onto the show.
