WWE: 15 Rarest Wrestling Figures Worth An Absolute Fortune

12. Tiger Mask II (Popy) - $700

When Joey Styles visited The Wrestling Universe store in Queens, NY, he tweeted out a pic of some of the rare wrestling figures lining the store€™s shelves and gave us an "OH MY GOD!" saying it was €œthe greatest store I€™ve ever seen€ wrestling heaven.€ So when store owner Jac Sabboth tells you about the rarest figure he€™s probably ever sold, you know it€™ has to be a true collectable. Popy was a Japanese toy manufacturer owned by Bandai that produced a number of toys in the 1980s based on Tiger Mask, a manga and anime series about a professional wrestler. Around the same time New Japan Pro Wrestling licensed the Tiger Mask character to create a real life pro wrestler, and then in 1984, All Japan Pro Wrestling acquired the Tiger Mask rights and gave the gimmick of Tiger Mask II to Mitsuharu Misawa. An interesting fact about this line of figures is that the Tiger Mask II figure is actually based on the Tiger Mask II anime series and not Misawa€™s portrayal of the character, even though both probably factor into the figure's value. Mitsuharu Misawa, a wrestling legend, tragically died in the ring at the age of 49 in 2009, and in response, related merchandise has risen substantially in value, with Tiger Mask figures in the Popy line usually going up to $300, though a variation of the Tiger Mask II figure sold at the grand opening of The Wrestling Universe€™s Massachusetts store for $700.
