9. The Mainstream Appeal
While Brock Lesnar as the streak conqueror has been met with scathing criticism from die-hard wrestling fans, there's no denying that it has made sense from the casual fan and mainstream point of view. Indeed, with blanket press coverage now serving up pieces on the streak end, fans should ask themselves if they really think that would have happened to the same degree if it hadn't been against Brock Lesnar? The Beast carries credibility and retains an aura of celebrity as 'the baddest man on the planet' from his UFC days. People beyond pro-wrestling are aware of who Brock Lesnar is, by giving him the streak win it has became more of a mainstream story. That can only be good for WWE and Undertaker, it shines the light on the occasion that little bit more brightly. Brock Lesnar is one of the biggest box office draws of the last decade, losing to him was the big deal this needed to be for Undertaker. There was arguably no broad ranging name big enough to rival Lesnar. So he got the gig to end the streak.
