WWE: 15 Underrated PPVs You Should Catch On WWE Network

5. The Bash 2009

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwDclqav-54 Many of you may not remember, but Smackdown went through a bit of a wrestling renaissance in 2009 after the draft in May which sent great workers like CM Punk, Chris Jericho, Rey Mysterio, and John Morrison to Smackdown to wrestle alongside Jeff Hardy and Edge, creating a new €œSmackdown Six.€ Some variation of those six men wrestled each other pretty much on every show. The pinnacle of the 2009 version of the €œSmackdown Six€ came at The Bash, especially with the Chris Jericho/Rey Mysterio match for the Intercontinental Title. It€™s my choice for 2009 Match of the Year, and the match played magnificently off Jericho€™s desire to unmask Rey Mysterio. In addition, this night began the tag team title reign of Jericho and Edge, which was a nice surprise at the time. Plus, this was the first Pay Per View since the slow burn heel turn of CM Punk, establishing that he could be a main event player. On the Raw side, it was cool to see The Miz in a big program with John Cena. He€™s a bit of a joke these days, but back in 2009, it was refreshing to see a new face in the main event picture, and Miz was a really hard worker. The math was a squash, and they had a more competitive match the next night on Raw that I wish would have happened at the Pay Per View, but WWE at least showed they were willing to take a risk.
