WWE: 15 Wrestlers Who Should Have Been Top Guys

7. Bruiser Brody

Brawlers are a dime a dozen these days, but Bruiser Brody was the original. Even Mick Foley, the hardcore legend himself, says that his Cactus Jack character was a ripoff of Brody's in-ring style and demeanor.

Brody was immensely popular with fans, but wasn't the best locker room politician. He was famously uncooperative with wrestlers he didn't like. Brody once stopped working in the middle of a cage match with Lex Luger, just before Luger was to leave NWA Florida for Crockett Promotions. The reasons are unclear, but one thing is for sure: guys in a real fight don't just stand around, which is exactly what Brody did, making Luger look like a chump in the process. Brody is still talked about by old school wrestling fans to this day. His terrifying presence, solid promo work, and feuds with Kamala and Abdullah the Butcher are highlights of a career that ended far too soon. He was stabbed to death by another wrestler, Jose Huertas Gonzalez, in 1988.
