http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DGsBRImD0po I'll never forget the date. It was August 9, 1999 in Chicago and the countdown clock was about to hit zero as The Rock was in the ring for a promo. He was one of the top babyfaces in WWE in that point and obviously one of the best talkers too. As Rock was delivering his promo, the clock struck zero, the lights went out, fireworks went off, "Break the Walls Down" and "JERICHO" appeared on the screen. We all figured that's who it was going to be, but until we saw it with our own eyes we really didn't know. The Chicago crowd exploded as former WCW star Chris Jericho made his first appearance in WWE. He started by extending his arms on the stage and welcoming us to Raw is Jericho. From there, Jericho got into a verbal battle with The Rock that saw him take the role of the heel in the scenario. He wasn't there to suck up to the fans. He was there to brag about how great he was. He also mentioned that he was Y2J, which was in relation to the Y2K virus that a lot of people were talking about prior to the year 2000. It's one of the most famous dueling promos in WWE history and due to the fact that it was in front of a hot crowd like Chicago it was made that much more special.
