WWE: 20 Loudest Chants And Reactions Ever

1. Steve Austin Helps Mick Foley Win WWE Title 1999

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=60pU-fAcLdk The air date of this match was January 4, 1999. It was a taped show from Worcester, Massachusetts. You may remember it because over on WCW Nitro, they told people Foley was going to win the WWE Title and people flipped over to it to see it. It turns out that will put butts in the seat, WCW. A lot of them. The Rock was defending the WWE Title against Mankind. One side of the ring had Rock's buddies from Vince McMahon's Corporation. The other side had Degeneration X watching the back of Mick Foley. It was a No DQ match, so you knew it was going to be a volatile situation. They wrestled a back and forth match that saw Mankind gain the advantage thanks to the Mandible Claw, which always seemed less painful with a sock on Mankind's hand. Then Ken Shamrock of the Corporation went into the ring, hit Mankind in the back with a steel chair and everybody started brawling. It was mayhem as the Corporation and DX were going at it at ringside. Then the glass broke. It was him. The crowd went nuts! "Stone Cold" Steve Austin marched down to the ring with a purpose. He's the man that Vince McMahon tried to keep away from the WWE Title and he did a great job of it, but this was Austin's revenge. With Rock and Mankind down, Austin hit Rock in the head with a steel chair and put Mankind's chest over Rocky. One, two and three. And the arena exploded again. They like to say that the "roof blew off" when there's a major reaction. It was true in this case too. One of the things I really loved after the match were the facial expressions of Vince McMahon. He was freaking out. So damn mad. Deep down, you know he's thinking "we got them" and he must have been loving the reaction that Mankind was getting. To cap it off, DX put Mankind on their shoulders and McMahon was so mad about it. Mankind grabbed the WWE Title and said: "Hey Vince, I gotta tell ya this feels pretty damn good." Then he ran around the ring with the WWE Title as if it was the biggest prize in the world. Is it a Steve Austin moment or a Mick Foley moment? Doesn't matter. It's a great WWE moment involving those two, plus other huge names like Vince McMahon, The Rock, Triple H and others. It was the culmination of so many angles coming together at once and then WWE's biggest star (Austin) was there to make sure the right guy won. I think that's what makes it so special. It's not just about the one guy. It's about so many amazing performers at a time when crowds were their absolute loudest. We'll never forget that night and the crowd played a big part of that.
