WWE: 30 Superstars To Create Greatest Royal Rumble of All Time

28. Ric Flair

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BFQEUiN4-G8 In arguably the greatest Rumble match ever, and thus far the only one where the WWE Championship itself was up for grabs, Ric Flair proved himself to be the original 'iron man' by winning from #3 back in 1992, lasting just shy of a whole hour. Signing from WCW in the summer of 1991, Flair spent only 18 months with the company before rejoining the newly-Bischoff run WCW but still managed to make two Rumble showings and 'headline' a WrestleMania. The acclaimed 16-time world champion has done it all and won it all, and when he returned to the WWE a decade later he made a further 3 Rumble appearances.

27. Rick Martel

rick martel Rick Martel was something of a Royal Rumble enigma. For all intent and purposes he was a midcarder, yet he nearly always provided a solid showing at the Rumble. In 5 of his first 6 outings, he entered as one of the final 8 men (i.e. between #22 and 30) and his final showing in 1995 was as a late substitute surprise. The Model finished in the final seven an incredible 5 times (partially helped by his entry draw) and in each of these years he was still present when no. 30 made their way to the ring, including his mammoth 52 minutes in 1991 which set the original mark for longevity.

26. Stone Cold Steve Austin

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=75A2WVYlkoQ The most successful man in Rumble history, with 3 victories to his name. He was also close to winning 3 consecutively if it weren't for Vince McMahon & The Rock's devious thwarting that cost Austin a win in 1999. Stone Cold's first victory came in hugely controversial fashion in 1997, re-entering the ring after being seemingly eliminated by Bret Hart. However, the referees never saw Austin's ejection and he managed to steal one right from under the nose of Bret- leading to their epic submission match at WrestleMania 13. With 36 eliminations to his name as well as the 3 triumphs, Austin is quite probably the greatest Rumble performer in history.

25. Kane

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wTUh4i-FN8A Despite never winning a Royal Rumble, Kane will forever be associated as a main player in the contest for his record 11 eliminations in 2001 from the number 6 spot - a record that still stands today. Lasting nearly 54 minutes, each of the participants Kane disposed of was a former WWE champion of one form or another, including The Rock, the Honky Tonk Man and..Al Snow. Even though he ultimately came second to Austin, this was undoubtedly Kane's Rumble. With a record 14 appearances in the match, including 13 consecutive showings from 1999-2011, Kane has the joint second highest elimination total on 36 behind HBK.

24. Edge

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rEKWu43ITyg Royal Rumble appearances were somewhat of a rarity for Edge, missing one through injury and booked in title matches on 6 occasions. Edge's one success came in 2010 after a length injury lay-off, making his surprising return (though many had predicted as much) to emulate John Cena's feat two years earlier. Known best as an 'Ultimate Opportunist' and taking shortcuts during his quest for glory, Edge proved his legitimacy with this victory; even if it was the shortest time period a winner had ever spent in the ring (at just 7 minutes).

23. Randy Orton

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Up9hn9p7niA Probably the most obvious conclusion to the match, the 2009 Royal Rumble was centred all around Randy Orton and his feud with the McMahons, having punted Vince in the head just a week earlier. The final four came down to a 3-on-1 situation, with Orton and his lackeys Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes against Triple H - son-in-law of Vince and fighting for retribution. Their feud (which really started in 2004 when Triple H kicked Orton out of Evolution) would last through to the summer with Orton reigning supreme. The Viper has managed to come in every position first-fifth, showing he has tremendous experience and knowledge when it comes to these matches.

22. CM Punk

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2lKn4XreyEA He hasn't managed to win a Rumble yet, but Punk was the star man in both 2010 and 2011. With the Straight Edge Society in tow, Punk delivered in-ring sermons while one-by-one eliminating four men and one woman before being halted by Triple H. In 2011, Punk used the Nexus to aid his cause - being the year's iron man as well as casting out 7 people before Cena spoiled the fun. Will Punk win one before he hangs up his trunks in a few years? I would bet on it.
