WWE's 15 Hottest Stars Of The Summer Since 2001

9. Bobby Lashley - 2007

Between 2001 and 2015, 2007 was the hardest year to find a breakout summer star for. Because when you really think about it, there wasn't truly one individual who stood out above the rest. Sure, John Cena fared rather well as WWE champion, and The Great Khali (in case you forgot) was the reigning World Heavyweight champion on the SmackDown side at that time, but I couldn't classify either of them as "hot summer stars."

The closest anyone came in my opinion was Bobby Lashley. He started off the summer as ECW champion, but due to being sent packing to Raw in the 2007 WWE Draft, he was forced to relinquish the title. But it didn't take him long to make an impact on Monday nights, contending for the WWE Championship in the main event of Vengeance and again at The Great American Bash.

On both occasions, Lashley looked like he was on the verge of victory, and if anyone could have taken the title off Cena, it was him. For whatever reason, officials weren't ready to put the strap on him, and due to the delay, Lashley suffered an injury shortly thereafter and his summer was abruptly cut short as a result.
