WWE: 4 Format Shake Ups That Would Benefit NXT

2. Bring On The Madness!

Nxttourney Now this is where things get really fun. We have the ranking system in place, and we€™ve figured out how it plays into the week-to-week narrative of NXT, but what else to we need to put this idea over the top, and bring prestige and theatre to this system? It€™s simple really, March Madness! March Madness is one of the top 3 North American sporting events year in and year out because it embodies everything that we love about sports. High stakes, high emotions, and wild, unpredictable finishes. This 64 team, single elimination college basketball tournament is some of the best sports theatre every year, giving us Cinderallas to root for, powerhouses to root against, and nail biting, knockdown drag em€™ out games that often come down to the final shot. Every year before Wrestlemania, NXT should hold its own March Madness Tournament, featuring the top 16 (or more) NXT superstars, all vying for the NXT National Championship Cup. The brackets will be based on the rankings that have been cultivated throughout the year, and the final match will be held at Wrestlemania, giving NXT a presence at the biggest WWE event of the year. The NXT Championship is important because it gives you top ranking and top billing, but you win the NXT National Championship Cup, and you own that for the entire year, and nobody can take that away from you until the next tournament. It will feel special, it will be exciting, and it will be something completely new and exciting to look forward to every year for NXT at Wrestlemania. Wrestling fans and sports fans love prestigious events that we can look forward to because they happen annually. We love looking forward to the Royal Rumble and when it comes we€™re always excited. Same with Wrestlemania, Money In The Bank, the NBA, NHL & NFL Playoffs and of course the Olympics and the World Cup. The annual NXT National Championship Cup Chase can become one of those staples of the WWE that we look forward to from NXT for years to come. Plus who doesn't love a good Tourney?
