The former friends turned long time rivals fought in the main event of Raw in Shawn Michaelss hometown. The crowd was behind Shawn 100% throughout their nearly 30-minute contest. It was a real back-and-forth match and the crowd was loud and on their feet throughout the entire thing. Triple H had Ric Flair in his corner and he came in handy. Flair would assist in pulling Triple Hs arm in an Abdominal Stretch to help apply more pressure. Also, Flair had thrown Triple H the World Title to use when the referee was down. With the referee down, Raw General Manager Eric Bischoff came down to officiate the match. HBK had struck Triple H with the Sweet Chin Music and covered Hunter for the three. The crowd exploded as their hometown boy had just won the title, however when he pinned Triple H, Shawns shoulders were also on the mat so the match was declared a draw and Triple H retained. It was such an amazing match with such an amazing finish. The crowd was so hot when they thought Shawn had won, but they were so let down when they figured out Triple H retained. It was just one of many great Triple H screw job finishes.
