WWE: 5 Classic Bret Hart Matches That Have Been Forgotten

1. Bret Hart vs. 1-2-3 Kid

Monday Night RAW- July 11, 1994 In 1993, it was rare for a good-guy to take on another good-guy, or "babyface" in the WWE. It was even rarer for a top babyface World Champion to wrestle another top babyface for the World Title. And in an even rarer occurrence, this all happened on the main event of the then-still new Monday Night RAW television program. In a back-and-forth instant classic, this rare match elevated Sean Waltman's 1-2-3 Kid character to upper-card title contender and made Bret Hart that much more excellent by having told one of his greatest stories in the"he-almost-got-him" thrill-ride Hart and Waltman took viewers on in this roller coaster RAW World Title masterpiece. The conclusion of this match including one of Hart's oldest and best tactics: playing possum, or lulling his opponent into a false sense of security by playing "dead". While Hart is wobbly on his feet and staggering to stand, the 1-2-3 Kid ascends the turnbuckles looking to deliver a final blow with his "educated feet". As the Kid propels off the top, Hart measures his descent and tricks Waltman into going for broke, only to have Hart slam Kid down on his failed dropkick attempt and apply his dreaded Sharpshooter. The submission was only a matter of when, not if.
