3. King Of The Ring
This is one of those things that people have been hankering for since it was taken off the WWE schedule! In its place, we now have useless gimmick PPV's that just tell me we won't get a Hell in a Cell or a TLC match any other time throughout the year, and that's a damn shame. But again, that's a different story altogether. The King of the Ring would establish an up and coming star in around 3 weeks of TV back in the day and made for an interesting PPV. With the amount of mid-card talent that the WWE faithful get behind and want to see pushed to the stars, this could be an easy out to set these guys up for the future. It also made for some great arcing storylines that would branch off of the qualifiers, giving creative even more options. Why I believe this would be good for the WWE product is that we wouldn't get so many of the randomly put together matches we seem to see so often. For one month a year, matches would mean something to the talent but also to those at home. To add that extra bit of spice, why not dangle the carrot in front of talent to really make the tournament mean something? Something along the lines of an instant WWE Title Shot or perhaps, to mix it up that bit further, an instant buy into the big gimmick matches. I'm talking entering the Rumble at number 30, instant access to the MITB ladder match, qualification into the Elimination Chamber and so on. All the build and matches would lead to one magical Sunday, where we get the semi-finals and final of the King of the Ring tournament and, once again, less filler crap just thrown in there for no apparent reason! The reasons why this should be brought back in all its glory are endless, and I see no reason at all why it hasn't been done already!
