WWE: 5 Reasons Why Jake Roberts Deserves Hall Of Fame Spot

4. The DDT

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_sHWP3F_gk8 A move that is taken for granted these days, the DDT was a phenomenon when Roberts debuted it in the 1980s. The story goes, Jake invented the move purely by accident and just what the initials DDT stand for is the subject of much debate. Ranging from Damien's Dinner Time to Demonic Death Trap, regardless of the true meaning behind the DDT, it was one of the most popular finishers in wrestling at one time. When asked himself what it stood for, Roberts once simply replied "the end." In a world where it's not uncommon to see a wrestler kick out of multiple finishers, the DDT in the 1980s was clinical; literally nobody got up from the devastating manoeuvre. The DDT became an iconic staple of the Jake "The Snake" character, although it is now just a regular, throwaway move. There have been various other wrestlers who have finished off foes with the DDT, such as Raven and Edge, and there is a whole plethora of variant DDTs out there, but Jake Roberts' DDT is the stuff of legend.
