WWE: 5 Replacements For Rey Mysterio

Rey Mysterio is on his literal last legs as well as his metaphorical last legs. After his multiple knee surgeries Rey is probably going to have to hang up his mask soon. He only has three months left on his current contract, and many feel that he will not sign another deal. He will leave WWE as a genuine legend, and is a probable future Hall of Famer. Rey has held a myriad of Championships, holding 8 different belts over his time in WCW and WWE. The jewels in his crown would be his runs as World Heavyweight Champion and WWE Champion. He is also a former Royal Rumble winner, Triple Crown Champion and has possibly the most famous mask in wrestling history. This is an incredible career, especially for a man still in his 30's. Rey has filled a unique slot in the WWE; he has completely earned his title as The Biggest Little Man. He perfectly filled the role of the under-dog, his size makes him a natural in the role. He plays the part to perfection as well, being hauled and thrown around the ring like a rag doll. His willingness to take this kind of punishment only enhances his ability to comeback and overcome the odds. Rey has incredible high-flying ability paired with brilliant technical skill, these two combined are the reason why Rey has had so many quality matches against such a variety of opposition. When Rey does hang up his boots there will be vacuum for someone else to fill. WWE will need to find someone who has similar traits to Mysterio; great high flying skills, a natural underdog, and an exciting move set. Listed are five wrestlers who would be suitable to step into the void left by Mysterio. These are performers from the independent scene or from WWE's developmental system NXT, rather than members of the full WWE roster.
