WWE: 6 Intriguing Questions Following Summerslam
5. Will John Cena Get Time Off TV? John Cena works harder than anyone else for the WWE brand- of that one can have no doubt. He may not be the most versatile, nor the most compelling wrestler to watch, but his work outside the ring makes up for it. Having said that, he has a massive swelling on his elbow that needs to be surgically removed in order for him to continue competing. Should the WWE write him off the screens for a couple of months, or should they keep him around while he heals up? As good as Cena can be on the mic, I am leaning towards the former option for a couple of reasons. Last year, in the run up to Hell in a Cell, John Cena did his level best to try and put over Ryback by elevating him during a couple of promos. While this kind of worked, it did in some ways make Ryback seem almost like he was being managed by John Cena and it drew the spotlight away from him. Furthermore, any deficiencies that Ryback may have had on the mic (and there were a few) do not apply to Daniel Bryan or a heel Randy Orton. Finally, it would be nice just to see how Bryan can go as the top babyface week in week out for a little while against a viable heel opponent in Orton. Then, after a couple of months, Cena can come back refreshed. I am therefore hoping over the next couple of weeks we see a vicious punt to the skull that sees Cena put out of action for a while. Will it happen? Who knows.
