WWE: 6 Reasons Why CM Punk Was Wrong To Walk Out
The CM Punk story is one of the biggest "off screen" WWE stories in a very long time. Yes, a lot of fans are upset about the Royal Rumble booking and with good reason, but for Punk to just walk out the way he has it's bigger than anything that has happened on WWE TV in a very long time. Why's it such a big deal? Because Punk is one of the five biggest names in WWE. He has been for at least the last four years. Knowing that he has left the company is a major loss for a company that relies on him as one of their most important performers. There are many reasons why fans can sympathize with Punk for leaving (perhaps that will be another column here on WhatCulture in the very near future) and there are also many reason why fans may want to vilify Punk for leaving. In this instance, I'm going to take a look at six reasons why Punk was wrong to walk away. Since Punk has been quiet and chooses not to talk about what happened (he certainly has the right to do that), we won't know for sure why he did what he did. However, we can look at his career from an objective point of few. Before this begins, it should be pointed out that I'm a huge CM Punk fan. I first saw him at the independent wrestling level around 2003. When he signed with WWE I was so happy for him. His feud with Jeff Hardy in 2009 is one of my favorites in WWE history because it told a story that felt so real while making both guys into bigger stars. Then his rise in 2011 was one of my favorite periods to be a WWE fan. I'm saddened by the news that he's chosen to walk away six months before his contract expires. Here are six reasons why Punk was wrong to leave his job with World Wrestling Entertainment.
