WWE: 6 Reasons Why CM Punk Was Wrong To Walk Out

5. It Hurts Live Events

WWE Live Events (or house shows) are a big part of the company. They existed long before the company was ever on television and will likely always exist. Live events offer the opportunity for fans to see WWE performers live in their city at least once a year and perhaps more than once per year. For the past couple of months, there have been two main tours in WWE. One of the tours featured John Cena and Randy Orton in the main event while the other tour has Daniel Bryan and CM Punk as the top draws on those shows. Punk usually wrestled against The Shield in 3 on 1 handicap matches that he won (just like at TLC). Now that Punk's gone, it could hurt attendance at shows. He's a top guy that WWE has pushed strongly for the past three years and even before that he was a World Champion too. Maybe his absence won't matter too much. We won't know until we see attendance numbers, but it hurts WWE to have a top guy suddenly leave while fans wonder where he is. If you go to a WWE live event that Punk was advertised for, chances are refunds will be offered. That's usually the case when a top guy isn't available. Since many of his peers don't even get to be on TV very often (hey Zack Ryder), they rely on the live events to be seen. If a top guy is missing it hurts everybody else on the roster. Friends may understand why he left, but will all of them like it? That's debatable.
