WWE: 6 Reasons Your Criticisms Of The Current Product Are Plain Wrong

6. The WWE Is Full Of Cruiserweights

wwecrusierweightcloselock The one thing that irks me the most about "smarks" is the constant irritating consensus that the worst thing the WWE could've done was dilute then discard the Cruiserweight division. The dynamic matches between two "small" superstars back in WCW were usually mind blowing, would steal the show and paved the way for stars like Rey Mysterio, Eddie Guerrero and Chris Jericho to showcase their extreme amounts of talent and propelled them to greater glory and world championships. But the thing is, WCW was literally right smack bang in the "big men" era where the only way you could get Heavyweight Gold around your waist was by being over 6ft 4 and weighing 300 pounds....and whether you believe Kevin Nash€™s comments about Wrestlemania 20 or not, it did herald a significant change in the era of wrestling as 2 "cruiserweights" (although Benoit hardly fitted this bill) would go on to main event the show and win both major titles respectively Since that moment, the Cruiserweight title (in the WWE at least) simply wasn't needed anymore.....case in point, let's look at the modern era (specifically the latest money in the bank ppv) and at the players involved....Cody Rhodes, Daniel Bryan, CM Punk, Dean Ambrose, Christian, all of them would be "technically" classed as cruiserweights back in the old days (even Alberto Del Rio was once a luchador) and would've NEVER even gotten close to a major championship run....not to mention the rest of the roster, names such as Tyson Kidd, Seth Rollins, Chris Jericho (former Cruiserweight champion might I add), Heath Slater, Justin Gabriel, The Miz, Sin Cara and Rey Mysterio (another former Cruiserweight champion). My God now that I look at it there are twice as many Cruiserweights running the show as there are "Big Men". If you brought back the title now it would have to be only for midget wrestling, and they already tried that... so how about giving your rhetoric concerning this now defunct championship a rest. If you actually watched the wrestling instead of just bad mouthing it you would see that it is completely dominated by the "small" guys....

Passions in life: Movies, Music and Wrestling....My childhood was spent growing up in the "Outback" of Australia (I'm a little bit country) and my adulthood resided within the city limits (I'm a little bit rock and roll), so you could say that I am the best (or worst) of both worlds. A 6 foot 7 ex wannabe pro wrestler (whose career was cut short due to a busted back, NOT caused by wrestling) & muso who has a precocious cat & a habit of doing the wrong thing but for the right reasons. The story of my life???? All demos, no albums ;)
