WWE: 7 Forgotten Classic Eddie Guerrero Matches

7. Eddie Guerrero & Tajiri vs Team Angle - Tag Team Ladder Match - WWE Judgment Day 2003

Arguably the best part of the WWE in 2002 was the ongoing tag wars between €˜Los Guerreros€™ Eddie Guerrero and nephew Chavo Guerrero the team of Chris Benoit and Kurt Angle and the team of Edge and Rey Mysterio. The collective group affectionately known as the €˜Smackdown Six€™ spent the second half of the year amazing fans in a range of both single and tag team matches. At No Mercy 2002 in one of the standout moments of the period Kurt Angle & Chris Benoit took on Edge & Rey Mysterio in a match that is still considered by many the pinnacle of WWE Tag Team Wrestling. At the beginning of 2003 after constantly trading wins and Tag Team Championships the six competitors would break off in different directions. Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit would be elevated to the WWE main event picture in battles with both each other and Brock Lesnar. Edge would get injured leaving Rey Mysterio to help reinvigorate a stalling cruiserweight division. Eddie & Chavo would briefly remain a team feuding with the newcomers €˜Team Angle€™ (Charlie Hass & Shelton Benjamin) after losing the Tag Titles to them however the feud would be cut short after Chavo injured his shoulder. With Eddie stuck in limbo he was teamed up with the €˜Japanese Buzzsaw€™ Tajiri to continue the feud with Team Angle. This makeshift team was only temporary and more of a stopgap to Eddie€™s inevitable ascent to the WWE Main event picture. Even so it resulted in some great battles; this ladder match is the best. Soon after this match Eddie would turn heel on Tajiri and reunite with a returning Chavo. Showing he was past this stage of his career however he would soon also split from Chavo. With fans firmly behind him he would soon be elevated to his first WWE World Championship.
