6. Eddie Guerrero vs CM Punk vs Rey Mysterio - IWA Mid South - March 1st 2002
By the middle of 2001 personal issues and injuries were beginning to catch up on Eddie Guerrero, after a failed stint in rehab, he was released from his WWE contract in November 2001. This was the wake up call Eddie needed and shortly after his release he would clean his life up. Revitalised Latino Heat would start to shake of the ring rust by traveling the country and wrestling in small venues for a range of independent promotions, one of these was IWA-Mid South. At the time the IWA-Mid South Champion was none other than CM Punk. Even though his WWE days were in the distant future, Punk had already established himself as one of Independent Wrestlings hottest prospects. On the 1st March 2002 the two would feature in a Triple Threat Match alongside an unmasked Rey Mysterio, who had also found himself back on the independent scene after the collapse of WCW. Its a stellar match that because of the fact that it didnt happen in a major promotion has unfortunately been overlooked. In fact it would set the tone for a number of future WWE Triple Threat Matches for instance Mysterios Wrestlemania XXII Triple Threat with Kurt Angle and Randy Orton. This would be one of Eddies last matches on his 2002 tour of the independents as he would soon be given a second chance by Vince McMahon and the WWE.
