WWE: 7 Greatest Innovations To The Wrestling Business

7. Specialty Matches (Hell in a Cell, Elimination Chamber, Money in the Bank, TLC)

Wwe Money In The Bank A traditional wrestling match in WWE is one on one. Two competitors enter. The winner is determined by pinfall, submission, disqualification or countout. Obviously there are other kinds of matches like tag teams, six man tags, triple threats, fatal fourways and so on, but the most popular match type is one on one. What WWE has done over the years is create some specialty matches that fans associate with the company because they're unique to them. Others can give them other names, but matches like Hell in a Cell, Elimination Chamber and Tables, Money in the Bank, Ladders & Chairs are WWE specialty matches that have given us so many great memories. The ladder match was done before WWE, so that shouldn't be included. Many other specialty matches were WWE creations, though. Hell in a Cell is used to settle rivalries within the confines of a gigantic stage that surrounds the entire ringside area. Elimination Chamber gives six people to win an elimination match that puts their bodies to the test. Money in the Bank has anywhere from 6 to 10 people competing for a briefcase hanging about the ring. TLC is a physically demanding match where people put their bodies on the line to retrieve a championship (most of the time) that requires a ladder to reach. Having specialty matches is a sign that WWE is creative in terms of offering up something different for their fans. It's important to create those memories and situations that aren't repetitive to the average viewer at home.
