6. He Mastered The Shoot Interview
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JcQlYF1w5I0 The "shoot" interview in wrestling is something fans have always been interested in. We know the show is scripted, but we want to hear about real things that happened behind the scenes too. It let's us in behind the curtain. Cornette is considered one of the first guy to start doing shoot interviews. In the 1990s we would have had to order them from somebody and watch them on a top. These days they're a lot easier to access whether you watch them on youtube, listen to them on an internet radio show or order them off a website. While it's hard to know who did the first shoot interview in the history of wrestling, it's fair to say that Cornette has popularized them. If you ever have the time to listen to some of Cornette's epic rants, just do a "Jim Cornette shoot interview" search and you'll get to hear a lot of opinions from him on a variety of subjects. One of the people that Cornette regularly rails against is former WWE writer and WCW writer/booker Vince Russo. The two worked together in WWE as part of the creative team until Cornette left in 1997 and also in TNA at various points in the 2000s. The two never saw eye to eye because Cornette grew up an old school wrestling fan that made his mark as a manager in his early 20s while Russo started out as a magazine writer in WWE that managed to get Vince McMahon's ear to become his top writer. These days, Cornette has changed with the times as part of
Major League Wrestling (MLW) Radio where he covers a variety of different subjects. He's also been a recent guest on podcasts hosted by the likes of Steve Austin and Jim Ross on the Podcast One radio network that are worth checking out.
