WWE: 7 Reasons Why Tough Enough Returning Is A Great Idea
7. Fans Like Going Behind The Scenes In Wrestling
The first Tough Season started in 2001 at a time when reality television was really just starting out. There were a few reality TV competition shows like Survivor on the air at the time, so people were just starting to get used to the concept. These days there are a lot of "reality TV" shows where the cameras just follow people around as they do everyday things like WWE's Total Divas. The reality TV show genre has changed a lot since that first season of Tough Enough, but one thing that remains true is that wrestling fans like seeing what really goes on behind the scenes in the business we love to watch. That's why WWE's documentaries are such a huge hit. It's why Total Divas is doing really well on the E Network in its second season and is likely going to get a third season too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YaQhq42CU00 What Tough Enough did in the past and can do again is show fans what it's really like to be in the wrestling business. Showing people taking bumps or learning how to deliver a promo are things that we might take for granted at home. It's not easy to develop those skills. It takes a lot of practice and training time to really perfect it. There's value in WWE putting that on a television because it will make fans respect the people we watch in the ring. It's a pretty simple concept that makes sense. The more we know about wrestling, the more interested we'll be.
