WWE: 8 Awesome Match Types We Just Don't See Enough Of

8. Lumberjack Match

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yw1Fmdo7tLk Allegedly based on how lumberjacks used to settle their disputes out in the wilderness, a lumberjack match consists of a ring being surrounded by a number of wrestlers both babyface and heel. When a participant in the match attempts to leave the ring or is thrown from the ring, it is the lumberjack's job to toss the unfortunate man back inside the ring. Lumberjack matches were once a popular way to get the entire roster involved in a feud between two main event level talents. Babyfaces could look strong by forcing the heel back inside the ring and the heels could build heat for themselves by taking cheapshots at the babyface wrestlers. Besides, who doesn't like when an all-out brawl breaks out at ringside? You can also utilize this match to end a feud between two guys while starting a new one. A heel could cost the fan favorite his match or a midcard babyface could make an impact on the outside of the ring. This match was made all the better in the late 1980s WWF when the lumberjacks on the outside of the ring were forced to wear flannel shirts. Somehow, this made the match well worth the price of admission.
