WWE: 8 Modern PPVs That Performed Miserably

4. Over The Limit 2011 - 145k worldwide, 72k domestic

Over The Limit 2011Top Matches: Cena vs. Miz (I quit); Jerry Lawler vs. Cole (HOF Ring/kiss my foot); Orton vs. ChristianGreat matches: Randy Orton vs. Christian Good matches: R-Truth vs. Rey Mysterio, John Cena vs. The Miz Okay matches: Kane & Big Show vs. Mason Ryan & CM Punk, Sin Cara vs. Chavo Guerrero Lame matches: Ezekiel Jackson vs. Wade Barrett, Brie Bella vs. Kelly Kelly, Lawler vs. Cole Held two days after the death of Randy Savage and three weeks after Extreme Rules 2011 (108k domestic buys, 216k worldwide buys), Over the Limit can best be described as "lackluster". The show only drew about 6,500 fans to Seattle's Key Arena. By the April PPV, John Cena had already avenged his main event loss at WrestleMania XXVII to Mike "The Miz" Mizanin via winning the triple threat steel cage match over The Miz and John Morrison. The babyface was already victorious. It seems that fans weren't excited at the prospect of seeing the third PPV in a row headlined by a Miz/Cena match. There was another Wrestlemania rematch as Jerry Lawler and Michael Cole fought in a ludacrious "Either give me your Hall of Fame Ring and induct me or I'll kiss your feet" match that included both Jim Ross and Bret Hart getting involved. It's not really that surprising that fans didn't want to pay $45 to watch these "matches". OVER THE LIMIT 2011 FINAL VERDICT: Skip this show unless you love the Orton/Christian feud or somehow could never get enough of heel Michael Cole antics involving BBQ sauce humiliation.
