WWE: 8 Things You Might Not Remember About Money In The Bank

4. Shelton Benjamin: MITB MVP

Shelton-Benjamin €but Shelton Benjamin was the star player. Some of you who are newer to watching WWE might not remember Shelton Benjamin. It€™s your loss, we assure you. But YouTube is your friend. Before Kofi Kingston's memorable Royal Rumble elimination escape attempts became a tradition, we had Shelton Benjamin defying gravity and common sense in Money In The Bank. Appearing in five out of the six ladder matches for the MITB briefcase at Wrestlemania between 2005 and 2010, his astonishing athleticism would see him produce most of the standout moments from each match. Called €˜the best pure athlete in WWE€™, The Gold Standard would more often than not deliver on that description, and then some. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SqbhzBSdZXk Check out this highlights video from the first MITB match at Wrestlemania 21 in 2005 at 1.00, and from about 2.00 to 3.16 solid. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-W5lI_Y3Mc Then there€™s this highlights package from the MITB match at Wrestlemania 22 the year after. Go to 0.40, then 1.15, and see his 2.50 leap in to the top of the ladder from out of nowhere. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XRLei6pWYY8 His most famous MITB moment comes from Wrestlemania XXIV, with this amazing fall off the ladder, out of the ring and onto the ringside ladder. Just look at Carlito's face€ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EFJyHS-M5Vc €while Wrestlemania XXV saw this frankly death-defying flip (off what looks like the tallest ladder in the world) onto the other participants at ringside cement his legacy. Benjamin delivered a perfectly fine performance in the Money In The Bank match at Wrestlemania XXVI, but his star had waned in WWE by this point. Ultra-athletic superstar Kofi Kingston was to deliver the Benjamin trademark high spot this time, in only his second MITB match. Shelton Benjamin was released a few weeks later, but for us he€™ll always be the MITB MVP.
