WWE: 8 Wrestlers Who Wore Out Their Welcome

6. Eugene

In one of the more tasteless moves in WWE history, the company had one of its wrestlers portray a mentally handicapped man. First off, how would that be legal for him to fight? Second of all, who would want to fight him? But despite it being an absolutely awful idea, it actually worked...for a little bit. Somehow, Eugene got over and WWE quickly got everything out of him that they could. After being on the roster for just four months, he worked his way up to feuding with Triple H at SummerSlam 2004. And after that? Well, Eugenemania was pretty much over. WWE still kept him in a fairly prominent role, but fans fell out of love and weren't into the act anymore. He couldn't really cut a traditional promo that would get people hooked into his feuds. His matches weren't all that engaging, as they revolved around him stealing finishing moves from more famous wrestlers. There wasn't much to him. He just represented WWE's unique style of awful comedy. After some personal problems Eugene was out of the company. It's probably for the best, as his relationship with the crowd had run its course. Unlike some other stars over the years who fans have demanded back (like Daniel Bryan or CM Punk), the desire for any more Eugene was pretty minimal.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
