WWE: 9 Opportunities Seth Rollins Heel Turn Opens Up

6. Opening Up Serious Debate On The Shield€™s Place In History

While it has been brought up casually on WWE television, the debate is now open on The Shield€™s place in history. From their debut, they established themselves as €œThe Standard of Excellence€ in WWE, as stated by Roman Reigns and who could argue otherwise? They revitalized the 6 man tag match, and looked like main eventers from day one. Their success allowed WWE to introduce The Wyatt Family. They elevated anyone blessed enough to work with them, and became anchors of WWE television. Meaning €œif everything else sucked, at least we have The Shield!€ Each man could have been argued at any point to be the leader. It was a wrestling boy band in all honesty. For this generation the answer is clear, The Shield is the greatest group ever assembled. It€™s not close. They have no weak links, didn€™t add a ton of members, and have never had a bad match. Looking at them in a historical context, it would be hard to say some of the past teams could stand up to them today. This is probably how people felt about the Freebirds in the 1980€™s. And we have Seth Rollins to thank for this. (Or Whoever Booked This)
