4. Yokozuna
Probably the most successful wrestler on this list, Yokozuna became the youngest WWF champion when he captured the title at 1993's Wrestlemania IX. Debuting at just around 500 pounds, Yokozuna had already gained enough weight to be billed at 580 lbs. when he defeated Hulk Hogan at the King of the Ring. However, Yokozuna was a remarkable big man. He was able to move around the ring at an impressive speed for his size, taking bumps and dropping a huge legdrop on hapless opponents. Yoko would hold the title until Wrestlemania X, when Bret Hart pinned the giant to capture the title. He was relegated to tag matches after that since his ballooning weight led to Yokozuna being unable to wrestle the necessary length and cause opponents to refuse to wrestle him. Finally, WWF officials had Vader (kayfabe) break Yokozuna's leg in order to give him time off to lose weight. In a final insult, they had Yokozuna carried out of the arena with an actual forklift. Yokozuna was sent to Duke University's weight loss clinic in order to lose weight but he would actually "escape" during the night and eat at various fast food establishments. By October 1999, he was a reported 760 lbs. and was actively trying to gain weight in order to become the heaviest professional wrestler in history. Yokozuna died in October 2000, just shy of 600 lbs. and at only 34 years old. A gifted member of the Anoa'i wrestling family, Yokozuna let his love for food and excess consume him and his successful wrestling career.
