WWE: 9 Unforgivably Stupid Gimmicks That Ruined Great Characters

2. Ultimate Warrior Becomes Batman

The Ultimate Warrior doesn't have to do too much to be cheered. He just has to run to the ring, shake the ropes, flex his muscles and the fans will eat it up. It's a good thing for him, because he couldn't wrestle a good match to save his life (unless he was in the ring with Rick Rude or Randy Savage). After controversially leaving the WWF in 1996, Warrior showed up on WCW Nitro in 1998. He immediately set his sights on his former friend Hulk Hogan, and tried to destroy the NWO. He got a tremendous pop from the crowd upon his arrival, but soon divulged into one of his pseudo-philosophical nonsense promos that only made sense to himself. Even stranger, was that Warrior soon adopted aspects of Batman. Yes, Batman. At the end of his promos, he would finish with the line "tune in next week, same Warrior time, same Warrior channel" just like the voiceover from the 1960s Batman TV show said. Then, Warrior would disappear in a cloud of smoke, and a mysterious Warrior symbol would appear above the arenas. It must have been a lot of work to lug the Warrior signal across the country. Anyway, once again, Warrior's run didn't last long, but this was arguably his worst and most confusing one.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
