WWE: 9 Wrestling Talents We Lost In 2014

2. Mae Young

God bless Mae Young. Was there anything that this woman wouldn't do to help put on a show? Mae competed in seven decades, having her first match in 1940 or 1941 (accounts vary). Mae opened up doors for women wrestlers and competed for Stu Hart's Stampede Promotion in Canada, the NWA and even toured Japan after the Second World War had ended. After her first career as an in-ring performer (Mae was a handy shooter back then too) she had a second career during the WWF Attitude Era. Mae, who was as tough as nails and always wanted to perform, did everything asked of her during those days. Some fans would have been thankful if she had have said 'no' every now and again. During the 2000 Royal Rumble, for instance. Mae was crowned the 'Miss Rumble 2000' at the event after she hijacked a bikini contest and pulled off her top, exposing herself to the crowd and the pay-per-view audience. Thankfully, what viewers saw were not Mae's really breasts but actually prosthesis. The information doesn't make the image any less harrowing, mind you. That stunt set the tone and over the next few years Mae regularly turned up when WWE felt they needed to gross out or shock their audience. She was powerbombed through a table (twice) by Bubba Dudley, gave birth to a rubber hand and gave Eric Bischoff a bronco buster (for which she had mischievously placed trout in her underwear). Mae, who threatened to fight anybody who took it easy on her in the ring, was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2008 along with her best friend The Fabulous Moolah. The McMahon's, especially Vince, clearly had strong admiration for her. She passed away on January 14th, aged 90.
