WWE And TNA: 6 Worst Moments Of The Week (July 12)

1. Run Owens Run!

Has WWE given up on Kevin Owens? The ratings have been bad lately, but they aren't taking it out on him...are they? The man is innocent! The company needs some new stars, which is something they've been delaying for a good decade or so, and this €œrookie€ is good. Owens could be the new CM Punk type character, in that he appeals to adult males, who are vocally satisfied with the current product, but this week they took a step backwards in terms of his character development. Cesaro and John Cena had a pretty great 30 minute match on Raw, which the US champ won cleanly. Owens then came in to put a beatdown on the champ, and was quickly disposed of. Like, really easily. Zack Ryder or Lodi type easy. Shouldn't that half hour match have put Cena at a massive disadvantage? You'd think taking a Neutralizer and some vicious uppercuts would have left him weakened. So not only did Owens back down from Cesaro pre-match, but he was unable to beat up a physically beaten Cena. Instead of being a next top star, he could be the next Dolph Ziggler or Wade Barrett, just another guy that the company was afraid to go all-in on. What happened to Vince's grapefruits? What happened to his creativity? What happened to recognizing good talent? Maybe it was just a one night thing and Owens will get back on track, but he could also be the next Rusev or Bray Wyatt, guys who weren't in Cena's league, and will soon be riding the mid-card for years to come. Time to kick out.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
