The Royal Rumble’s undercard delivered pretty spectacularly, and Paul Heyman cut the best promo of the year so far on Raw, but the overarching message of the week is that today’s stars still aren’t as good as those from a decade (or longer) ago.

That’s been the running theme for some time, but it’s still tiring to watch it play out. Oh yeah, I forgot. Tye Dillinger got his No. 10 spot on the show. So maybe we should just be happy with WWE's gifts?

Shifting gears a bit, is it just me, or does Mick Foley need to knock it off when it comes to the suits he wears on television? I get that he loves bragging about his bad fashion sense (among the many things he likes to casually humble brag about), but I find it hard to take him seriously when he’s setting up heated matches while wearing something that looks like it was found in the dumpster behind a Goodwill store that specializes in formal lumberjack apparel.

The worst line of the week goes to David Otunga who said this after Breezango walked out on SmackDown, “This shows you the level of competition on SmackDown.” I guess in a sense that is very true, but I’m also guessing he was trying to spin them, and the Vaudevillians and The Ascension as a credible competition and didn't mean it in an ironic way. If he reformed his tag team with Curtis Axel they would probably be the most credible challengers to the tag titles on the show. I’m not even sure that’s hyperbole.

Now let’s not waste anymore time. Let’s take a look back at WWE’s and TNA’s 7 worst moments of the week.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
