WWE And TNA: 7 Worst Moments Of The Week (June 12)

5. Cena Eats The Club

John Cena The Club New Day

Last week, I loved the John Cena and A.J. Styles segment on RAw. This week, I felt it took a big step backwards. Whoever wrote the script for their most recent face to face meeting sure didnt do A.J. any favors.

The build for their upcoming showdown should be based off of two of the best of this generation never locking up, and now finally getting their chance. Instead, its now about Styles always coming up short, and never being able to win the big one so he needs the help of his stablemates. That makes it feel a lot less of a dream match. Cena was also scripted to deliver some strong lines (pointing out Styles' recent losses) that his opponent had no comeback for.

Not only that, but the end of Raw saw Cena charging the ring and knocking down The Club easily, and giving Gallows the Attitude Adjustment. It felt like way too much, too soon. I wish I could be more optimistic about the next chapter in the feud but...this is John Cena were talking about. The first chapter in his storylines are as good as it gets. And its all quickly and brutally downhill from there. Just ask Rusev, The Miz, The Nexus and Bray Wyatt for confirmation.

And I may be in the minority here, but A.J.s line of Guys like you bury guys like me is one of those wrestling things I can't support. From a storyline standpoint what does that even mean? No other TV show would have one character say that line to another actor just to appeal to the audience who knows the backstage stories.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
